Vintage Boilermaker Special Tee
The Boilermaker Special has been leading Purdue to victory since its introduction in 1940, but Purdue has been known as “The Boilermakers” since 1891. The “special” refers to a train that runs outside its normal time slot- so the trains that transported the 1940 Purdue football team were, in fact, “specials.” The locomotive was named by combining the two, and the rest is history!
