According to Louisiana Tech legend, the Bulldog was chosen as the school's mascot in 1899. Five students adopted a stray bulldog, who lived with them until a fire broke out in their home. Though the bulldog itself did not survive the fire, it barked to wake up and warn the students, saving their lives. Since then, the brave, ferocious dog has represented the tenacity of LA Tech students.
