Iowa State Jack Trice Stadium Long Sleeve

Iowa State Jack Trice Stadium Long Sleeve

This commemorative design honors the life of Jack Trice, and the stadium that now bears his name. Trice, who died from injuries sustained in his second-ever college football game against Minnesota, knew the importance he held as Iowa State's first Black athlete in any sport. In a letter he wrote the night before the Minnesota game, Trice wrote from his segregated hotel room: "The honor of my race, family, and self is at stake. Everyone is expecting me to do big things. I will!"

After Cyclone Stadium opened in 1975, students petitioned the university several times to name the stadium after Trice. In 1997, the will of the students prevailed, and the stadium was renamed in his honor.

Products are mocked up on a size S. Graphics may appear smaller on larger sizes.
