Furman made the paladin, a knight renowned for heroism and chivalry, its official mascot in 1961, the same time the artwork that inspired this shirt was created. One of Furman University’s most exciting traditions is when Sir Paladin storms the field upon his horse, Fury. The historically-accurate knight in full armor and his white horse dressed in purple gallop to midfield and embody our favorite line from the school fight song, “Vic’try be now for Furman University!”
